Terms of Sale

Flightless Forge sells bespoke hand make knives, as well as 3D printed knives and other knick-knacks. Knives being the important part; that engenders a few terms and conditions.

All purchasers must be 18 years of age or older. Knives cannot be sold to minors.

Knife laws vary by location. It is your responsibility to ensure the legality of what you purchase where you live. Knife laws being what they are, vis-a-vis a byzantine and nonsensical patchwork that's different for every state, county, and city, I can't keep track of what is and isn't legal where, nor what laws changed last week, or any of the rest of it. Knives of specific types or sizes may be regulated in your location, and it is your responsibility to research and comply with your local laws.

Knives are potentially dangerous. I feel like I should not have to put something to obvious in print, but it seems that the world we live in dictates that I do. Be careful with your knife. Handle it with respect, and employ all due caution when using it, up to and including protective equipment if necessary. Don't use it to pry or hammer on anything.

You agree to hold Flightless Forge harmless as a condition of sale. No one can control what you do with your knife except you. Therefore, you agree to hold both me and Flightless Forge harmless and that both myself and Flightless Forge assume no liability whatsoever for injury or death, property damage, fines or any other costs, legal consequences, or any other eventuality arising from the purchase, use, misuse, or ownership of any product sold on this website. Both myself and Flightless Forge specifically disclaim all liability under any circumstances. If you disagree with this, I suggest you buy a knife from somebody else. Maybe one of those big corporations who have millions of dollars and teams of lawyers.

Orders and Shipping

Orders of in stock items are usually shipped within 48 business hours. If you purchase something to order or something that's out of stock, you'll have to wait for me to make it. This will increase your lead time significantly. All told it's about a two full day process for me to make a knife or batch of knives, but I also have a day job that makes demands on my time so don't expect me to be able to turn around any knife from scratch in less than a week.

If your order hasn't been shipped yet you can cancel it at any time if you feel it's taking to long. Simply email me.

Shipping is via USPS unless you buy a balisong, because these are for some reason unfathomable to me prohibited to ship through the postal service; In that case, your stuff will be shipped via whichever common carrier offers the better deal.

Returns

Hand made (i.e. steel) knives can be returned within 30 days from the date of receipt. I don't care if you have buyer's remorse, don't like how it fits your hand, or wished you'd bought a different color. Returns do require prior authorization, so email me before sending anything back. You will be responsible for the return shipping costs, but otherwise I'll issue you a full refund on the product itself.

Returns are not accepted on stuff that you broke, unless I can't fix it or make you another one. See below.

3D printed items aren't returnable. All sales on those are final.

Warranty

Every hand made Flightless Forge knife carries my "because I said so" lifetime warranty. If you manage to break a component on your knife such as the handle scales, bolts or hardware, or sheath, I will provide replacement parts. Forever, or as long as I remain in business and/or alive, and have the means and equipment to do so. It's astoundingly unlikely that you will break the blade of your knife but if you do so in the execution of normal cutting tasks, I will replace your knife with another one as close to it as I can manage to make. Because I said so.

This warranty excludes breakages due to abuse or misuse by prying or using your knife as a crowbar, using it as a hammer, or using it as a shovel. It is none of these things. If this is how your knife got broken or if I detect that you are trying to use this warranty to take advantage of me to scam me for free stuff, it is void. Because I said so.

Thus in the event of a blade breakage I will need your knife back — all of it, including all of the busted pieces. You're responsible for the return shipping costs. I will cover the replacement shipping costs.

Replacement parts for 3D printed items will be provided only for those which were found to be missing or defective upon arrival. Otherwise, 3D printed items have no warranty, and all sales are final.

Privacy Policy

Look, I'm neither Mark Zuckerberg or Sam Altman. I don't capture or store any personally identifying information, and even if I did I wouldn't share it with anybody. If you make a purchase I'm forced to gather some information such as your name and address, because otherwise I can't ship anything to you. This information is kept in the strictest confidence, and in the event I go out of business I'll delete it.

You can browse anonymously to your heart's content. This site doesn't even use cookies, for crying out loud. I don't have any advertising partners. I don't use any third party analytics. I don't track you. I don't have a mailing list and I don't want your email address for anything.
